Maggie

We spent Sunday on the beautiful Magnetic Island, named by Captain Cook. He thought the island was interfering with his compass! After a 20 minute ferry ride, we had Nelly Bay almost to ourselves for several hours.

All the kids love these trees. We would like to have one at home to build a treehouse in.

Next, we headed to Horseshoe Bay on the ocean side of the island. After watching the magnificent sunset, we munched hamburgers in the dark on the shore. Then came a very interesting bus ride back to the ferry with a large group of Uni students who had been liberally imbibing all day! They were loud, rowdy, and crude, but altogether a nice group of kids. We were horrified of course! Fortunately, we don't really understand drunken australian, so we were spared the details of the rauchy drinking songs that were shouted at the top of their lungs for about 20 minutes. The very kind bus driver loaded us first for free and sat us at the back of the bus so we would be spared the worst. It was a great day and we plan to go back on a WEEKDAY to explore a few more of the secluded bays!
